Fox Searchlight has premiered a new international trailer for The Drop, the new film from Bullhead director Michael R. Roskam, adapted from the short story by Dennis Lehane (the author of Shutter Island, Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone) and starring Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ann Dowd and James Gandolfini in his final starring role.
The story takes an inside look at Organized crime’s use of local New York City bars as money-laundering ‘drops’. When lonely Brooklyn bartender Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy) uncovers a drop of a different sort in the form of a battered pit bull puppy that he rescues from certain death, he comes into contact with Nadia (Noomi Rapace), a mysterious woman hiding a dark past.
Searchlight has set a September 19 release date, which almost guarantees a Toronto Film Festival premiere and this is one I’m really looking forward to seeing.
Just below is the new trailer along with a batch of photos courtesy of the studio.
