Expectation is for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu‘s Birdman to show up at the Telluride Film Festival with what I presume will be a second premiere shortly thereafter in Toronto as Fox Searchlight kept the film out of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
Described by the official synopsis as “Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance”, the film is a black comedy telling the story of an actor (Michael Keaton) — famous for portraying an iconic superhero — as he struggles to mount a Broadway play. In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself.
Along with Keaton the film stars Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts.
Birdman hits theaters October 17, watch the trailer below.
