Robert Pattinson is busy in Cannes this month with David Michod‘s The Rover and David Cronenberg‘s Maps to the Stars but the actor isn’t showing signs of slowing as it’s now being reported he’s going to work next with Olivier Assayas on a film titled Idol’s Eye with filming to begin in November. The story will center on a group of men who rob a porn store only to find out it’s actually a mafia front. [Le Monde via The Playlist]
The attempt to bring Stephen King‘s “IT” to the big screen continues, though Warner Bros. has shuffled the adaptation, which is currently to be directed by Cary Fukunaga (“True Detective”) to New Line. The story follows a group of kids who defeat a creature called It. Years later, the creature returns and the club, now adults, have to band together again even though they have no memory of the first battle. The plan is for the first movie to tell the kids’ story and the second movie to focus on the adults. Expectation is for the film to be told in two-parts, the first centering on the children’s story and the second on them as adults. It’s been a long time since I read the book, but I believe the previous television adaptation was also broken up in a similar fashion. [THR]
[amz asin=”B00HUCF6KK” size=”small”]Speaking of “True Detective“, a new rumor says Jessica Chastain is among the candidates for the series’ second season. HBO has already come out and said the rumor is false, which is no surprise given Chastain’s busy schedule not to mention also being rumored for a role in Mission: Impossible 5. She can only be in so many places at once. [Nerdist]
More is always better right? Right? Well, Warner Bros. is operating on that theory as they not only have The Lego Movie 2 in the works but they have now dated LEGO’s Ninjago for a September 23, 2016 release with “TRON: Uprising” director Charlie Bean set to direct. No plot details as of yet. Lego Movie producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Dan Lin and Roy Lee will produce.
