I came across this look at how the effects team simulated rain on the set of Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah, which mean simulating rain over a set that ran about the length of two football fields with approximately 500 extras using about 100 firehoses, dropping about 5,000 gallons of water a minute.
The video discusses the process of lighting the rain and how they had to shoot night for day in an effort to make sure the sun didn’t wreak havoc on the lighting. Oh, and the whole thing was controlled using an iPad.
