Will The Amazing Spider-Man 2 become the first film of 2014 to cross $100 million on opening weekend? Looking at the reader averages it’s going to be a close call. Laremy went well over, predicting a $109.5 million opening, but readers aren’t so sure, just inching over the century mark at $100.8 million.
The film opened with $8.7 million yesterday, which puts it on a trajectory of anywhere from $95-105 million, which means it’s going to be close.
As for the rest of the weekend’s predictions, they aren’t nearly as interesting. The readers are at $13.7 million for The Other Woman‘s sophomore weekend, $1.2 million below Laremy and they went $700,000 below Laremy on Heaven is for Real at $9.3 million. Then, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier it’s a wash.
