Knightley Boards ‘Everest’ and David Goyer Treats James Cameron’s ‘Fantastic Voyage’

Keira Knightley is the latest addition to Baltasar Kormákur‘s Everest, portraying Jan Arnold, wife of climber Rob Hall (Jason Clarke), who conquered the mountain five times. She joins fellow cast members Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Martin Henderson, Emily Watson, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington and Robin Wright. The cast of Monster Trucks filled out while I wasn’t looking, adding Rob Lowe, Barry Pepper, Thomas Lennon, Danny Glover, Jane Levy, Amy Ryan and Lucas Till in the live-action/animated hybrid. No plot details at this point, but it is set for a May 29, 2015 release from Paramount. [Deadline]

Lastly, David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman Begins) was been brought on to write a treatment for a Fantastic Voyage remake for producer James Cameron. The original 1966 sci-fi adventure film centered on a group of scientists, shrunk down to microscopic size within a submarine is shrunken to microscopic size and injected into the blood stream of a diplomat in an attempt to to save him after an assassination attempt. At one point Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) was attached to direct and screenwriters Shane Salerno, Cormac and Marianne Wibberly and Laeta Kalogridis have taken previous stabs at the script. [THR]
