Blake Nelson for ‘Fantastic Four’, Steinfeld for ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ & Luhrmann Tackles Elvis

First up, Tim Blake Nelson is returning to the Marvel world after playing Samuel Sterns in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk as he has signed on to star as the scientist Harvey Elder (aka Mole Man) in Josh Trank‘s The Fantastic Four, set for a June 19, 2015 release. [THR]

Hailee Steinfeld‘s schedule has cleared, considering I don’t think we should expect an Ender’s Game sequel any time soon, and she’s tuning up for a role in Pitch Perfect 2 to be directed by Elizabeth Banks. Steinfeld is the first confirmed new member of the cast, which includes original stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow. The film is set for a May 15, 2015 release. [THR]

Speaking of no Enders Game sequel, Ender director Gavin Hood is also moving on, setting up shop at eOne to direct Colin Firth in the action thriller Eye on the Sky centered on London-based military intelligence officer Colonel Michelle Madden who is remotely commanding a top secret drone operation that aims to capture a group of terrorists in Nairobi. The announcement is not specific, but I have to assume Firth is playing an American drone pilot, no word on who is playing the role of Madden. [Deadline]

Finally, while we recently learned Baz Luhrmann was eying a feature adaptation of the TV series “Kung Fu” at Warner Bros., he has now been attached to an Elvis Presley biopic written by Kelly Marcel (Fifty Shades of Grey) for WB. The script is not an adaptation, and while the project is believed to be a biopic, it’s unclear which periods of Presley’s life would be depicted in the film. [The Wrap]
