Just briefly, The Other Woman is a bonafide hit as the Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton comedy opened to a strong $9.5 million on Friday, heading toward an easy $20+ million weekend and perhaps as high as $25 million. While most critics were rather hard on the Nick Cassavates directed feature, I quite enjoyed it for the breezy little female-driven comedy it is.
Heaven is for Real and Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be battling for second place, both likely to finish somewhere around $15 million.
Paul Walker‘s Brick Mansions brought in $3.6 million, putting it right on track for expectations, likely to finish around $9.5 million and Lionsgate might have benefit from actually showing The Quiet Ones to critics as the film opened to a whisper at only $1.5 million on Friday, unlikely to gain much steam over the weekend.
I’ll be back on Sunday morning with a complete wrap-up. [Variety]
