Jon Favreau‘s Chef premiered at the SXSW Film Festival and Open Road will be bringing it to theaters on May 9 and my local Seattle screening has already been set for less than two weeks from now.
The film features Favreau in the lead role as Carl Casper, a chef who loses his job and cooks up a food truck business in hopes of reestablishing his artistic promise and family and Favs has surrounded himself with a strong supporting cast including Robert Downey Jr., Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, Bobby Cannavale, Scarlett Johansson and Dustin Hoffman.
Considering the film premiered at SXSW, I have a tough time taking early reviews too seriously as the director and cast is typically on hand and that creates a more forgiving environment. Right now the first eight reviews counted at RottenTomatoes are positive. The one thing about it, however, is it seems like it’s a nice, low budget road trip film and those can be very entertaining if you believe the characters. I’m hoping for the best.
Today the first trailer and poster have come available and I’ve included both directly below. Give the trailer a look and let me know what you think.
