A piece of marketing material from the website of Australia licensee Vilsco Textiles reveals future plans for Hasbro’s Transformers franchise, which appears to include Transformers 5 in 2017, following the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction this June.
Of course, this doesn’t actually prove anything. This could merely be speculation on the part of Vilsco Textiles, but at the same time it makes perfect sense. The question I have is to wonder whether or not Michael Bay would continue to direct the franchise or if he’s finally had enough. Then again, I’m surprised he decided to come back for a fourth film and I have a hard time believing it was merely so he could direct Pain and Gain considering I would think he could have gotten that film made most anywhere without promising to direct another CGI fest.
I would rather see Bay get back to doing human-based action films. I want to see him give us something along the same lines as Bad Boys or Armageddon. He’s been so caught up in sequels and Transformers lately, and since I wasn’t a huge fan of Pain and Gain, I haven’t gotten a nice dose of somewhat-original Bayhem in a long time. I miss it.
