This is just a small update as we are still about three weeks away from the official unveiling of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival lineup and while I won’t be attending this year’s festival, I still can’t help but get excited for the slate of films premiering at one of the very best film festivals in the world.
We already know Grace of Monaco will serve as the festival opener and now HitFix reports Bennett Miller‘s Foxcatcher starring Steve Carell, Mark Ruffalo and Channing Tatum will have its world premiere on the Croisette.
The film tells the gripping, true story of Olympic Wrestling Champion brothers Mark Schultz (Tatum) and Dave Schultz (Ruffalo) and their relationship with the eccentric John du Pont (Carell), heir to the du Pont Chemical fortune that led to murder.
There is still no word on what program the film will play in, but I’d have to imagine it’s going to be In Competition.
As of now, Sony Pictures Classics has not yet set an official release date.
