Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions are looking to once again reboot The Amityville Horror as I guess the nine years that separates us from the 2005 remake starring Ryan Reynolds is a long enough wait. Bella Thorne (Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up!”, Blended) will star as one of Jennifer Jason Leigh‘s three children for director Franck Khalfoun (Maniac). Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) has joined the cast of Scott Cooper‘s Whitey Bulger pic, Black Mass, and will play Bulger’s girlfriend. Bulger will be portrayed by Johnny Depp. Joel Edgerton and Guy Pearce co-star. [Deadline]

Finally, Adam McKay (Step Brothers, The Other Guys) is going dramatic and will direct for Paramount Pictures with The Big Short. Based on Michael Lewis’ best-seller “The Big Short: Inside The Doomsday Machine” about the housing and credit bubble of the 2000s, the film will be produced by Paramount and Brad Pitt’s Plan B. Pitt previously starred in and produced Lewis’ Moneyball, which earned an Academy Award-nomination for Best Picture.
