I reached out to two Universal reps to get either a confirmation or denial of this story, but both failed to reply. So, we’ll go with it for now as the New York Daily News is quoting a source saying “four actors with bodies very similar to [Paul Walker]’s physique” have been hired to stand in for the recently deceased actor for Fast and Furious 7 (4/10/15) and the production will use CGI to morph Walker’s face onto the actors.
Now this isn’t anything new to movies as facial replacement is used on what I would assume to be nearly 100% of all heavy, action-based movies. The thing is, this story makes it sound like they’re going to actually use this character for scenes with dialogue. I’ll need more confirmation than an anonymous source from the New York Daily News before I would believe that.
We recently learned Fox set a March 3, 2017 release date for their upcoming Untitled Wolverine Sequel, but speculation remained as to whether or not Hugh Jackman would return after saying the following to Vanity Fair:
“I don’t know whether or not I will do this next movie. I am really proud of [The Wolverine] and I am excited to develop something with Jim Mangold from the beginning because that is a great ride. That’s exciting, to see what we come up with but I have a very high expectation of what it would need to be [for me to star in it] and if it doesn’t reach those, I won’t be doing it.”
Well, as it turns out Jackman didn’t need a script to be convinced, just a screenwriter. Deadline reports Jackman will return for another go ’round as Wolverine just as David James Kelly (who previously took a stab at writing the Daredevil reboot for Fox) has come on board to write the screenplay.
Finally, J.D. Payne has been assigned scripting duties on Star Trek 3 alongside Patrick McKay and Roberto Orci and he recently stopped off at the Young LDS Film Festival and some excerpts from his interview have found their way online:
“We’re trying to set up a kind of situation where you really could — and not in just an ‘everything’s relative’ sort of moral relativism — you could be a good person of any creed or philosophical background and come down on both sides of how you should respond to this opportunity that the crew has…. that also has some pitfalls to it. Where you could argue very, very, very compellingly that ‘this’ is what you should do, and if you’re advocating ‘this’ then it’s actually evil.
“It’s sort of the Adam and Eve thing, where should we eat the fruit or not eat the fruit? Well, there are some very compelling reasons why they should and why they shouldn’t. So, similar kinds of things here that really give the whole movie and opportunity to sort of play with that, and have people come down on different side and wrestle with it; then come to an ending where you can walk out and say, ‘You know, I don’t know what I would do.'”
So a moral dilemma will take place. Got that? As of now Star Trek 3 does not have a release date or a director. However, it’s lead actor did just plead guilty to a DUI in New Zealand. So that’s something. [Trekcore via Dark Horizons]
