Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are set to return for The Conjuring 2, the sequel to the 2013, James Wan-directed feature focused on the story of world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren who were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse.
Again the script will be written by Carey and Chad Hayes who, once again, are speaking with the real Lorraine Warren, whose book the first film was based on, for inspiration. No word yet on whether Wan will return to direct or what exactly the plot will be, though a working title of The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist has been mentioned.
The Conjuring 2 will arrive October 23, 2015.
In addition to this, the spin-off from the first film, Annabelle, based on the story of the doll seen at the beginning of The Conjuring, is now set for a October 3, 2014 release with John R. Leonetti directing and Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton and Alfre Woodard starring.
