Las Vegas Betting Odds for the 2014 Oscars

We are now less than a week away from the 2014 Oscars and I’ll be posting my final predictions soon enough and asking for you to place your votes on each category as well leading up to the March 2 festivities. But in the meantime, Bovada (via Slashfilm) have posted updated Las Vegas odds on all 23 categories and for the most part it’s just as you’d expect.

In Best Picture it’s just as close a race as we’ve been saying some time though Oscar prognosticators tend to be leaning more toward Gravity as of late. Personally I’m pretty sure I’ll be holding on to 12 Years a Slave by the time the show starts and it seems Vegas will agree.

Some of the more interesting races include Best Foreign Film, which Vegas currently pegs The Great Beauty as the frontrunner and it certainly seems to be the film with the most juice. Currently I have The Hunt in the top spot, but I’m beginning to think by the time we get to Sunday I may be in the Great Beauty camp as well.

Best Costume Design is a category I think I’m going to end up sticking with 12 Years a Slave, which Vegas places among “The Field” with The Great Gatsby topping the category. It’s a tough call and Gatsby is certainly a strong contender. Hell, I may end up switching that one by Sunday as well.

Finally, if I was to say any bet against the Vegas odds seems like a good bet (and don’t take this as advice, I’m not responsible for your gambling habits) I’d say it’s a bet for 20 Feet from Stardom over The Act of Killing in Best Documetary. I know Act of Killing is more the movie fan and blogosphere fav, but I think 20 Feet is more the Academy’s speed.

Check out the complete odds below and you can always check out my current predictions right here, but I’ll have final ones for you on Friday morning.
