Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for their upcoming Godzilla remake as the giant monster will stomp into theaters on May 16.
Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and David Straithairn, the film is described as a “rebirth” of the Toho classic and as roar will at least pay homage to the original. I just hope the attempts to pay homage don’t conflict with Edwards’ modern sensibilities, because I would love for this to be a worthwhile remake.
The official synopsis tells us the new film will pit the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Just who or what are these “malevolent creatures”? Are they actual monsters or is this a reference to what humanity has become? We’ll find out more in May, for now here’s the new trailer.
