I can only imagine Guardians of the Galaxy (8/1) is going to ramp up the self awareness level in these Marvel superhero movies to an 11. It’s important to recognize how silly your movie is, especially when it involves a talking Raccoon and sentient tree, but it’s getting to a point where it’s a little too much and it’s gone beyond self-awareness to the point not only the filmmakers realize it’s stupid, but the characters within the world realize it as well.
This, of course, is me being cynical as I also have hope and interest in Guardians of the Galaxy, though I’m certainly keeping expectations in check as Marvel has to do all it can to make sure they remain as risk free as possible to make sure the money machine keeps churning.
Smartly, they are preparing audiences for what’s to come as a new featurette introduces Rocket, the raccoon character voiced by Bradley Cooper in the film. Now you get to hear him speak for the first time in character, readying you for a full film of the little bugger.
Also below are introductory videos to the rest of the film’s characters including Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) and Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). Have a watch below and leave me your thoughts in the comments. One thing is for certain, the visuals are outstanding.
