A24 Picks Up J.C. Chandor’s ‘A Most Violent Year’ for 2014 Release

While J.C. Chandor‘s All is Lost was unfortunately overlooked during its theatrical release this past year, it remains one of 2013’s best movies, which I presume A24 would agree with as they have already acquired Chandor’s next film, A Most Violent Year with plans for a fourth quarter 2014 wide release.

Starring Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) and Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) filming will begin shortly in New York City from a screenplay by Chandor (All is Lost, Margin Call).

A Most Violent Year is a thriller set in New York City during the winter of 1981, statistically one of the most violent years in the city’s history. The film follows the lives of an immigrant and his family trying to expand their business and capitalize on opportunities as the rampant violence, decay, and corruption of the day drag them in and threaten to destroy all they have built.

After All is Lost and Margin Call, I’m on board for whatever Chandor is bringing and with talent such as Isaac and Chastain leading his cast, even better.
