‘Need for Speed’ Poster is a Bit ’80s

I can’t help but look at this first poster for Need for Speed and think of ’80s films such as Rad and North Shore. I just get that ’80s vibe from it with the bright colors as if to say, “Hey, look, we can manipulate a picture to make it look pretty cool.” It’s almost the movie poster equivalent of those old school Hypercolor T-Shirts (don’t put ’em in the dryer).

As for the film, it hits theaters on March 14 and features “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul and the official synopsis tells me it’s an attempt to tap into the car culture films of the 1960s and ’70s, based on the video game franchise of the same name centering on Tobey Marshall (Paul), framed for a crime he didn’t commit. After some time in prison, Tobey is released and set on revenge.

The film co-stars Imogen Poots, Dominic Cooper, Michael Keaton and Dakota Johnson. Check out the poster below and, if you haven’t seen it, the trailer is above.
