Fox has released the first trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, picking up 15 years after that film ended as a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar (Andy Serkis) is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Along with Serkis returning as the performance captured ape, Caesar, the cast includes Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smith-Mcphee, Enrique Muriciano and Kirk Acevedo.
Directed by Matt Reeves (Let Me In), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 11, 2014. Watch the trailer directly below.
