‘Twilight’ Scribe Tackles Marvel’s ‘Jessica Jones’ and Goddard Does ‘Daredevil’

Marvel is bringing their universe to the small screen after their theatrical success, and following “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” on ABC, the next step is turning to Netflix for four new character centered series including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage and they aren’t wasting any time.

Yesterday The Wrap brought word The Cabin in the Woods director and co-writer, Drew Goddard, had begun negotiations to write a 13-episode season based on Marvel’s blind superhero “Daredevil“, which was last seen on the big screen as played by Ben Affleck in 2003. Goddard is of the Joss Whedon troupe of creatives and also worked on the likes of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer“, “Angel“, “Alias” and “Lost” which makes him an apt go-to candidate.

Next, THR reveals Marvel has reached out to Melissa Rosenberg to write and exec produce the “Jessica Jones” series. Rosenberg is best known for writing the films in the Twilight franchise as well as serving as head writer of the Showtime series “Dexter”.

This isn’t the first time Rosenberg has actually dealt with the property after being asked to develop a series based on the character years ago, but nothing ever came of the opportunity.

Lesser known than the Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) character, Jones is a private detective and former superhero who’d had a lackluster career and quit after suffering an incident that left her in a coma.

The Marvel and Netflix teaming is for a minimum of four 13-episode series, which are expected to begin streaming in 2015, followed by a planned miniseries about The Defenders.

Finally, for anyone that didn’t go see Thor: The Dark World, here is the new Marvel Studios logo.
