Justin Lin Brought On To Direct Fifth ‘Bourne’ Installment

Back at the beginning of August we learned Universal planned on moving forward with a fifth installment in their Bourne franchise following the lackluster response to The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner. Invictus and Sherlock Holmes screenwriter Anthony Peckham was brought aboard to handle the script and now a director has been found.

Deadline.com reports Justin Lin (Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6) will direct the as-yet untitled Bourne 5 with Renner set to return as Aaron Cross. Of course, given the success Lin has found at Universal with the last three Fast films he’s directed totaling more than $1 billion in worldwide returns he’s something of a natural choice. I just hope they’ve found somewhere more interesting to take these characters rather than the “chem” route the last film went.

The studio is eying a 2015 summer release for the film, which should be a perfectly fine place considering nothing else is coming out that year.
