More Wonder Woman Casting Rumors for ‘Batman vs. Superman’

At the beginning of the week Thor: The Dark World co-star Jaimie Alexander was quoted saying she knew a little more about Zack Snyder‘s upcoming Batman vs. Superman (aka Man of Steel 2) movie and hinted at the idea Wonder Woman may play a small role in the feature. Yesterday news surrounding the potential involvement of the character got a little more serious as Variety reported Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) and Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) have all tested for a female lead role in the film. Whether or not this is actually Wonder Woman is not officially known, but…

Bleeding Cool reported on a casting notice back in late September for what they described as a female lead that needed to be “somewhere between twenty five and thirty three – or at least leave the impression of a woman in that age range” and that she’ll need “to be physically strong”.

Add to this the following tweets from The Hollywood Reporter writer Borys Kit:

As for the “certain Diana” line, Diana Prince is the name Wonder Woman goes by, that is when she’s away from her homeland where she’s known as Princess Diana of Themyscira.

Meanwhile, Kevin Smith will be hosting a live Q&A this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. PST/Noon EST on Yahoo! (find it here) to promote next week’s release of Man of Steel on DVD and Blu-ray. He’ll be joined by Zack Snyder, Amy Adams and Henry Cavill and said the following on his Hollywood Babble On (via CS) podcast:

“They’re doing a special on Yahoo that I’m hosting, Zack Snyder is the featured guest, but it’s all about Man of Steel. So it’s me, Zack Snyder, Amy Adams, Henry Cavill is on video from London or he may even be on set with us, and then there’s some Michael Shannon stuff. So it’s an hour long, it’s free, it’s on the internet, but it’s just kind of to be like ‘Hey, Man of Steel is coming out!’ But there’s two things, there might be announcements during this show and the one thing I do know is there’s artwork going to be on this show that may or may not have something to do with a movie that’s coming up.”

Obviously the part people are grasping onto there is the “there might be announcements” and “artwork” leading many to believe Saturday morning may deliver some Batman vs. Superman goodies.

For now, the film is due to hit theaters on July 17, 2015 and more will be known as it is known.
