Taking the chance to do a little cross-promoting, Open Road’s latest Machete Kills trailer plays to the tune of Lady Gaga‘s new track “Aura” from her upcoming album, the official video for which drops Tuesday, October 8. As a result, you get a lot of Gaga in this new trailer for the film which finds Machete (Danny Trejo) recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.
Along with those already mentioned, the film co-stars Jessica Alba, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Zoe Saldana, Alexa Vega, Amber Heard, Vanessa Anne Hudgens and Demián Bichir with Robert Rodriguez back in the director’s chair.
I must say, if I had one decision to make with this film, Gaga’s character’s weapon would not have been a gun, but instead a bunch of tiny demons or, “little monsters”, as she so fondly refers to her fans. It’s not as if this franchise is dwelling in reality in the first place, so why not have a little fun?
