Lionsgate has premiered a new The Hunger Games: Catching Fire poster promoting the upcoming November 22 release of the second film in the franchise and it appears they are moving a little bit away from the golden hues of the first film and into a more reddish tone as Jennifer Lawrence is locked and loaded as District 12 tribute Katniss Everdeen.
The studio is also pushing the upcoming launch of advanced ticket sales in a couple days as I’m sure they’re hoping to top the $152.5 million opening weekend the first film enjoyed and probably hoping to come close to the $207 million The Avengers brought in last summer. The highest opening weekend for a November release, however, is the $142.8 million The Twilight Saga: New Moon brought in back in 2009 so I think it’s pretty safe to assume that record is in jeopardy even if The Avengers number is most likely out of reach.
