To read Variety‘s write-up of the hiring of Alan Taylor to direct Terminator 5 is a little comical. Before turning to the Thor: The Dark World an “Game of Thrones” helmer Paramount apparently was targeting Ang Lee (Life of Pi), Rian Johnson (Looper) and Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) and yet settled on Alan Taylor. Really? With this kind of news what can we really expect from a fifth Terminator film?
Variety‘s article adds that Taylor “won” the job. Sounds to me like he was the only one willing to take it.
We already know the screenplay was written by Laeta Kalorgridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) and Arnold Schwarzenegger has previously said he’ll have a role in the film, but to what capacity is unknown as details on the film’s plot are also unknown.
At this point we now have a director and a June 26, 2015 release date. Yay!
