Three new pictures from Justin Chadwick‘s Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom have arrived online, the first of which you can see directly above and features star Idris Elba in some old age makeup as he plays the South African icon Nelson Mandela in the film adapted from Mandela’s autobiography of the same name. The story chronicles his early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison before becoming President and working to rebuild the country’s once segregated society.
Mandela will play the Toronto Film Festival, but at this moment I’m not sure I’m going to be able to fit it in even though I have it down on my current schedule as a few changes have been made since I made that. The film, however, hits theaters on November 29 and I’ll definitely be sure to catch it down the line if it misses me in Toronto.
