James Spader Cast as Lead Villain in ‘Avengers 2: Age of Ultron’

Well, if you are anything like me you have a soft spot in your heart for the work of James Spader so to hear he’s been cast as Ultron in Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers: Age of Ultron is definitely some of the best news surrounding the Marvel cinematic universe for some time.

Whedon has said Age of Ultron will introduce a new origin story for the comic villain as he returns for his second go ’round with the superhero team after the $1.5 billion blockbuster The Avengers. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Captain America (Chris Evans) return and new faces are also said to be joining the cast including word Elizabeth Olsen will play the Scarlett Witch while rumors who will play Quicksilver persist.

Spader recently was one of the highlight’s of Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln, I loved him in “Boston Legal” and am actually quite interested in seeing his work in the upcoming “The Blacklist“. Adding him to this cast with Whedon’s knack for dialogue is a definite plus.

The film is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
