New ‘Divergent’ Featurette Highlights the Five Factions

The first trailer for Divergent arrived over the weekend and I’ve been told this may actually be a young adult adaptation that may have an impact and the fact it’s directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Limitless) is something of a good sign and star Shailene Woodley has definitely found her footing with films such as The Descendants and The Spectacular Now. So, is this adaptation of Veronica Roth‘s novels something that will live up to the success of The Hunger Games and Twilight or is it just another Beautiful Creatures or Mortal Instruments?

Today a new featurette has arrived that features some new footage from the film and interviews with many of the cast members including Woodley, Kate Winslet, Theo James, Maggie Q and Ashley Judd as well as Roth, discussing the different factions the films dystopian world are broken up into.

Divergent hits theaters on March 21, 2014, the same weekend The Hunger Games opened on back in 2012 and eventually went on to make $691.2 million worldwide. I don’t expect this one to be that big of a hit, but from what I’ve been told this is a story that has some level of promise.

Check out the new featurette below and if you missed the trailer click here to give it a look.

Divergent is a thrilling adventure centered around the monumental choice of deciding who you are and discovering who you can be. Set in a future where America is divided into five ideological factions to stabilize society and uphold peace, every citizen must choose a permanent faction at age 16 – either their own or another. Struggling to survive her initiation into the most aggressive and physically demanding of the factions, Beatrice Prior must uncover her true hidden strengths and risk her family, her new found love, and her very own life to defuse a mysterious conspiracy which could change the balance of power forever.
