It’s hard for me to gauge how much interest there is in Thor: The Dark World following the massive success of The Avengers and then Iron Man 3 earlier this year. Is the interest merely in Robert Downey Jr.‘s Iron Man character and the prospect of all the superheroes teaming up, or will there be greater interest in the one-offs this time around with not only Thor 2, but Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
I guess one way to gauge it will be the interest in the 13 new pictures from Thor 2 that Empire debuted this morning offering new looks at several members of the cast including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Christopher Eccleston as the film’s chief villain, Malekith.
Thor: The Dark World hits theaters on November 8 and continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgård, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins co-star. Alan Taylor directs.
