Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ Goes Into Production, Official Synopsis Revealed

Today Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. announced the official start of production on Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar in Alberta, Canada and with it include the following official synopsis:

Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

The production will travel the globe and utilize a mixture of 35mm anamorphic and IMAX film photography to bring to the screen a script based on the combination of an original idea by Nolan and an existing script by Jonathan Nolan, which is said to have been based on scientific theories developed by a Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, a gravitational physicist and astrophysicist at Caltech. Like Inception, the story is said to be “complex and multi-layered”.

The cast is an impressive one and includes Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, John Lithgow, Casey Affleck, David Gyasi, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Timothée Chalamet, Topher Grace, David Oyelowo, Ellen Burstyn and Michael Caine.

Filling in for cinematographer Wally Pfister who is at work on his directorial debut, Transcendence, starring Johnny Depp is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy lenser Hoyte van Hoytema with Hans Zimmer again supplying the score.

Interstellar serves as Nolan’s first film since The Dark Knight Rises and it’s set to be released in theaters on November 7, 2014.
