Poster for Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and Joss Whedon Talks about the ‘Avengers’ TV Spin-Off

I’ve seen maybe one or two promos for ABC’s upcoming “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” television show, which will serve as a spin-off from Marvel’s The Avengers franchise and undoubtedly offer up little Easter Eggs for the upcoming films. In fact, the first Easter Egg will go reportedly go back and explain how Clark Gregg‘s character, Agent Phil Coulson, manages to resurrect from the dead after being skewered in Avengers.

As far a how it will take place, creator Joss Whedon told EW, “We can’t wait to pull the curtain back on that, [but] we’re going to take our time.” Coulson, however, will not be featured in The Avengers: Age of Ultron as Whedon told the Associated Press, “He could. Right now it’s not something I’m pursuing because I have so much going on in Avengers 2. Finding out that Coulson is alive would be an entire B story. And I already have too much movie. That’s better than the other thing.”

Additional cast members include Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May and Chloe Bennet as the mysterious computer hacker Skye.

The new television series will premiere on ABC on Tuesday, September 24 at 8 PM. Check out the new poster below.
