I’ve calculated the aggregate of all the reader predictions this week and it seems there is a slight disparity between the reader predictions and Laremy’s as both the readers and Laremy believe The Smurfs 2 will take #1 for the weekend, though Laremy is a bit more bullish on the result coming in $2.6 million higher than the reader average. I’ve seen some forecasts down around the $26 million mark so it’s a tough one to decide.
Additionally, I’ve seen some forecasts that place the Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg action-comedy 2 Guns at #1 with over $30 million and in this case it would be the readers with the closer prediction as their aggregate comes to $25.7 million and a second place finish while Laremy has 2 Guns coming in behind The Wolverine‘s second weekend.
Finally, it will be interesting to see how the results on The Spectacular Now turn out as it’s only opening in four theaters this weekend and the result could be almost anything as there is a lot of buzz surrounding the film, which stars Miles Teller and The Descendants star Shailene Woodley. In the case of predictions, the readers more than doubled Laremy’s $250,000.
