If you want to be a big movie star you have to do a lot of work to make sure your movie is seen all over the world and today we have a prime example as Elysium star Matt Damon sat in on the Spanish-language morning show “Despierta America” and played some charades while holding a Chihuahua in a t-shirt. I have no idea how good Damon’s Spanish is, but he definitely holds his own and doesn’t seem to mind being the show’s clown for five minutes.
Other than that, a new extended trailer and clip from the film have also arrived and I must say, at this point I’m really hoping this film knocks it out of the park. I’m seeing it this Friday ahead of its release next Friday, August 9.
The film is set in the year 2159 in which two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
Sharlto Copley, Diego Luna, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner and Sonia Braga round out the cast.
