I’m seeing 2 Guns tonight, but I can’t say Universal has done much to suggest they have a lot of confidence in the Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg actioner. At the beginning of the week I realized my asset page for the movie (see here) didn’t even have the poster uploaded. Wanna know why? Because the poster is a joke, just look at the bottom of this post.
In what world does that look like a finished poster? It looks like a placeholder someone made in a matter of seconds. I didn’t take it seriously, expecting something legit to follow. No dice.
Now, with only four days to go and tracking probably in the dumpster, Universal releases a red band trailer for the film, which is an adaptation of a Boom! Studios’ comic book centering on a DEA agent and an undercover Naval Intelligence officer who are unwittingly investigating each other and who steal mob money for the good guys. The duo realizes later that the mob actually got them to steal $50 million from the CIA.
Based on the poster it looks like that money gets all burned up as a helicopter swirls above. I’m hoping this is better than Universal is making it out to be, but there is nothing to suggest that’s the case.
