First ’47 Ronin’ Trailer and Four Posters

Let’s put aside the fact 47 Ronin has had a massively troubled production and let this first trailer and new batch of pictures do all the talking for a second. After that we can talk about rumors the film was taken away from first-time director Carl Rinsch after the budget reportedly ballooned to $225 million. We can talk about how reshoots added a love scene and a greater focus on the film’s lead character played by Keanu Reeves, a half-breed member of a band of 47 leaderless samurai who must fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors following the murder of their master by a treacherous warlord.

Of course, on the heels of Battleship last year and already R.I.P.D. this year, the last thing Universal wants is another flop. Joining Reeves in the cast is Pacific Rim co-star Rinko Kikuchi, Hiroyuki Sanada who is seen in this weekend’s The Wolverine, Tadanobu Asano and Kou Shibasaki.

The film will be released in 3-D on December 25. Give the trailer a watch below as well as check out the four character posters.
