One film some Oscar watchers are still counting on arriving in time for this year’s awards season is Jonathan Teplitzky‘s The Railway Man starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth, but it’s yet to land a domestic distributor.
The film is based on a true story, following the victim of World War II’s “Death Railway” who sets out to find those responsible for his torture. Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd, Jeremy Irvine and Hiroyuki Sanada co-star.
Today the above new picture from the film has arrived, perhaps a sign it will show up in Venice and/or Toronto, but I think the likelihood of it having much of an impact on the Oscar race is slim. If it was going to be a major player it probably would already have secured distribution.
