Sometimes it’s frustrating living in Seattle, receiving screening invites for Los Angeles and New York and knowing I won’t be able to see the film here in Seattle until what may be much later. I know, Boo hoo, poor critic has to wait to see a movie like the rest of us. Nevertheless, I am interested in seeing how Lovelace, from Howl directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, turned out.
The film tells the story of Deep Throat star Linda Boreman (Amanda Seyfried) as she falls for charismatic hustler Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard), who launches her pornography career. Reborn as “Linda Lovelace,” the charming girl next door skyrockets to international sensation with her uncanny capacity for fellatio. Fully inhabiting this new identity, Linda becomes a spokesperson for sexual freedom and hedonism. But six years later, she reveals a far more sinister narrative — the dark secrets of her own life story.
Today the teaser poster for the film, which Radius-TWC will release on August 9 has premiered and I doubt there will be much surprise over the sexually suggestive nature of it, though I guess this may be considered tame by today’s standards. Give it a peek below and check out eight pictures from the movie right here.
