New ‘Elysium’ Trailer and TV Spot

Sony has brought online a third trailer for Neill Blomkamp‘s Elysium starring Matt Damon along with a second TV spot for the film.

The trailer is actually just edited down from the extended, three-minute trailer that was previously released, but I think the TV spot has a couple new shots in it. I don’t watch trailers, but skimming through the TV spot I don’t believe I’d seen the shot of Elysium, the man-made space station that serves as home to the wealthy in the year 2159, as seen above and there may be more… you’ll have to watch to find out.

Elysium hits theaters on August 9.

Oh, and here’s an IMAX poster for the film I hadn’t shown you before.

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
