Explore the Sound of ‘Man of Steel’

Soundworks Collection has posted a new featurette taking a look at the sound design of Man of Steel with re-recording mixer Chris Jenkins, re-recording mixer Frank A. Montaño, supervising sound editor and designer Eric Norris, supervising sound editor and designer Scott Hecker and dialogue supervisor Kira Roessler and it’s one of their better ones.

Personally I love it when they go into detail as to how they developed the sounds far more than just discussing the motivations behind things. Here you’ll see why they dropped a 9,000 pound K-rail and and what they were doing with glass beads and a child’s toy xylophone.

Obviously I haven’t started my sound design and mixing predictions for the 2014 Oscars and while I am already leaning toward Oblivion as a major contender, the work in Man of Steel won’t be forgotten.

Give it a watch below.
