‘Kon-Tiki’ Helmers Set to Direct ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’

At the beginning of the month a Pirates of the Caribbean 5. The names included Fredrik Bond (The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman), Snow White and the Hunstman helmer Rupert Sanders and supposed frontrunners at the time, Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, the duo responsible for the Oscar-nominated foreign language film Kon-Tiki. Well, as it turns out, the Norwegian directing team have landed the job.

Deadline reports Rønning and Sandberg are signed and will begin prep immediately with hopes for a late year or early January start.

Johnny Depp will once again star as Captain Jack Sparrow, Jerry Bruckheimer is producing and Jeff Nathanson is currently rewriting the script.

The film is currently targeting a July 10, 2015 release.
