The Internet will be drooling over the prospect of Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) directing James Bond 24. He’s talked of his love for the franchise in the past, paying direct homage to On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in Inception and the influence it had on his Batman trilogy and now Baz Bamigboye at The Daily Mail reports Nolan is in “informal talks” with Bond producers to direct the next installment in the franchise.
Nolan has said he would like to do a Bond film at some point in his career, but he’s also recently been quoted by Empire (via The Playlist) saying, “It would have to be the right situation and the right time in their cycle of things.”
His next film, Interstellar, is ramping up to begin filming shortly for a 2014 release, which would mean he’d have to quickly turnaround and begin work on Bond 24 to meet the producers’ expectations of a 2015 release. If I had to guess, I would think he’d be more prepared to direct Bond 25 at some point rather than quickly rush into production on the next film as Bond producers hope to take advantage of the success of Sam Mendes‘ Skyfall as soon as possible.
