I would love to get a chance to ask Harrison Ford what he was thinking as he had to read, “On May 7th you’ll get your first look at Ender’s Game with the worldwide premiere of the first trailer, exclusively on Google and YouTube.” Just hearing him say, “on Google and YouTube,” I couldn’t help but feel just a little bit sorry.
I understand this is the world we live in now, where 15 seconds of footage from an upcoming film are celebrated with so much gusto you’d think they just might be the cure for cancer, but does anyone watch the following video and not find it the slightest bit depressing? Ford looks like he’d rather be kicked in the groin than read from the cue cards in front of him. Oh well, at least he got paid.
As for Ender’s Game, you heard Ford, the first trailer will be online next Tuesday, May 7 and I’ll have it for you once it launches. In the meantime, above is the first look at Ben Kingsley in the film as a character named Mazer Rackham in the film, which is based on the sci-fi novels by Orson Scott Card.
Based on the series of science fiction books by Orson Scott Card. The first in the series was “Ender’s Game” which begins on Earth after an alien attack, when gifted children are recruited by a government desperate to fight back. The kids are taught a competitive game that’s a cross between the Quidditch matches of Harry Potter and the Jedi light saber battles from Star Wars. Only the best and brightest will be chosen. A young boy emerges as a genius strategist, and the planet’s best hope to destroy the alien Formic race.
