…I had told you it was a Tyler Perry presentation?
I have nothing against Tyler Perry, in fact, I’ve never seen a film he’s directed and only seen two films he’s acted in… one I loathe. And when it comes to his work as a producer, I’ve only seen Precious, which I also really liked. So in those terms, two-for-three isn’t bad even if one of those two is more like a .003.
So, to Peeples, a new film Perry produced and is presenting, but did not direct and is not a member of the cast. Instead this one was written and directed by Tina Gordon Chism (writer of Drumline and ATL) and stars the very funny and talented Craig Robinson (“The Office”, Hot Tub Time Machine) alongside Kerry Washington, David Alan Grier, S. Epatha Merkerson, Tyler Williams (not Perry), Melvin Van Peebles (not Mario) and Diahann Carroll.
Set for release on May 10, Peeples finds Robinson playing Wade Walker who crashes the preppy Peeples annual reunion in the Hamptons to ask for their precious daughter Grace’s (Washington) hand in marriage. Hilarity and sentiment is promised to ensue.
Now you tell me, would you have clicked to watch this trailer had I said it was a Tyler Perry presentation? If no, after learning it’s a Perry presentation and what it’s about and who is in it will you watch the trailer? If not, why not? Lemme know in the comments below.
Oh, and here are some posters…
