Will ‘The Conjuring’ Scare You the Same Way It Scared the MPAA?

Word around town is the MPAA has given James Wan‘s The Conjuring an R-rating because “it’s just so scary”. So they couldn’t possibly give it a PG-13. Of course, Warner Bros. is going to take advantage of this story as much as possible, because, as we all know, the MPAA is just as much a marketing tool as it is a ratings board. Remember when Fox was busting at the seams to tell us A Good Day to Die Hard was going to be rated R? How’d that work out.

Moving along, I don’t want to act like I’m dismissing Wan’s new film as I’m actually quite excited to see it. Starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, the film from the director of Insidious tells the tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

Today a second trailer for the film arrived online, check it out below.

The Conjuring co-stars Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor and Joey King and will be released in theaters on July 19.
