First Behind the Scenes Look at ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’

Warner Bros. coerced a few additional people into purchasing the Blu-ray version of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey so they would watch a live event a few days back in which fans got a sneak peek at The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Well, as would be expected, that first look is now online for free or at least some of it.

The video below runs about six minutes and along with some behind-the-scenes footage you also get a Q&A, but I’m sure most will be interested in seeing the footage including Orlando Bloom returning as Legolas, Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel and Lee Pace as Thranduil. There are appearances from Stephen Colbert and Billy Boyd and others so give it a look below.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters on December 13 and the first actual trailer is expected to arrive this summer.

The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellan) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.
