Rebecca Hall has joined the cast of Wally Pfister‘s Transcendence where she’ll play the wife of Johnny Depp‘s character. She beat out the likes of Emily Blunt and Rooney Mara for the role in the film which marks Pfister’s feature directorial debut after working for years as a cinematographer, most notably on Christopher Nolan‘s films including Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises.
Hall, who co-starred in Nolan’s The Prestige, joins Depp who plays a scientist whose brain is uploaded into the supercomputer he created with the intent on having it think for itself. Paul Bettany is also a member of the cast. Filming is set to begin in April in Los Angeles for an April 25, 2014 release.
Next comes word Harrison Ford is the latest to join the cast of Anchorman: The Legend Continues where he’ll play what The Hollywood Reporter describes as “a legendary anchor” opposite Will Ferrell‘s Ron Burgundy. Reports have Burgundy and the gang picking up and moving east from San Diego for the Big Apple. I expect Ford will be playing a Brian Williams type, something he more-or-less already did in Morning Glory in 2010.
Finally, there were rumors Halle Berry would reprise her role as Storm in X-Men: Days of Future Past for Bryan Singer and now those rumors have proven true. Berry confirmed the news in the following interview while promoting her new film The Call. She told BlackTreeTV (see the interview below) when asked if she was returning, “Yeah. The fans really love Storm. I’m really happy that it’s worked out that way. No matter what my part will be or won’t be, being part of it is always a good thing. I love it.”
Singer has also confirmed the casting with the following tweet:
