Originally, Planes was going to go straight to video, but Disney clearly saw the financial potential of bringing it to theaters and so here we are. This August you’ll get the film centered on Dusty, a cropdusting plane who dreams of competing in a famous aerial race. The problem? He is hopelessly afraid of heights. With the support of his mentor Skipper and a host of new friends, Dusty sets off to make his dreams come true.
The film is directed by Klay Hall and to my knowledge there isn’t a confirmed voice cast, though Jon Cryer (“Two and a Half Men”) was once said to be voicing Dusty.
Otherwise, here’s a new teaser trailer for the film, which doesn’t exactly support any of the story details I mentioned above, but I guess that’s the way it goes.
