HBO has premiered the “Game of Thrones” season 3 trailer along with a first look at the poster and several pictures from the upcoming season, which will premiere on March 31 at 9PM PST/ET.
This third season is based on George R.R. Martin‘s “A Storm of Swords“. Here’s the book synopsis:
Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another in disfavor, and still the wars rage as violently as ever, as alliances are made and broken. Joffrey, of House Lannister, sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the land of the Seven Kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, the victim of the jealous sorceress who holds him in her evil thrall. But young Robb, of House Stark, still rules the North from the fortress of Riverrun. In addition to returning stars such as Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aidan Gillen, Iain Glen, Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Maisie Williams, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Sophie Turner, Jack Gleeson and Alfie Allen, the third season brings new actors and characters into the fold.
Joining the show this season are Mackenzie Crook as Orell, Clive Russell as Bryndon “The Blackfish” Tully, Nathalie Emannuel as Missandei, Kerry Ingram as Shireen Baratheon, Paul Kaye as Thoros of Myr, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Jojen Reed, Ellie Kendrick as Meera Reed, Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion, Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane, Philip McGinley as Anguy, Tara Fitzgerald as Selyse Baratheon, Tobias Menzies as Edmure Tully and Anton Lesser as Qyburn.
