1.) We’ll begin with a batch of pictures from Trance directed by Danny Boyle and starring James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel. Boyle told USA Today the film begins with “the idea of a stolen painting and develops into something sleeker and more psychological, with twists and turns.” McAvoy plays the amnesia-suffering auctioneer, Dawson as the therapist and Cassel as the gang leader and today I have six pictures from the film to share in the gallery below with images via Empire and the USA Today spread. 2.) In addition to the photos for Trance, Marvel revealed the photo you see to the right of Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man 3 serving as a form of holiday greeting. Downey recently spoke with Nuts UK (via First Showing) saying, “I think [director Shane Black has] gone for a dark feel in this movie. It’s a lot grittier and goes back to its comic-book roots. It’s shaped into a really special movie – and Shane as been instrument [sic] in that.” Iron Man 3 hits theaters on May 3, you can get a larger look at the picture by giving it a click.
3.) Keeping on the comic book front for just a second, Hugh Jackman discussed The Wolverine (7/26) with Parade and said of the story, “[T]he movie takes place after X-Men: The Last Stand. My character is at his lowest. He is supposed to be able to heal himself, but he may encounter someone who has worked out a way to really hurt him.” The one piece that has the bloggers chattering, however, comes when he says, “And there is a cameo from one of the past X-Men in it.” Who could it be?
4.) Quentin Tarantino is doing the press rounds for Django Unchained and, per the usual, he’s talking about all the movies he wants to make. A ’30s gangster film has already been mentioned and continuing on the idea that Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained are the first two films in an informal trilogy, Tarantino got to discussing what may be next with TheRoot.com:
THE ROOT: You’ve targeted Nazis in Inglourious Basterds and slave owners in Django Unchained. What’s next on the list of oppressors to off?
Tarantino: I don’t know exactly when I’m going to do it, but there’s something about this that would suggest a trilogy. My original idea for Inglourious Basterds way back when was that this [would be] a huge story that included the [smaller] story that you saw in the film, but also followed a bunch of black troops, and they had been f–ked over by the American military and kind of go apes–t. They basically — the way Lt. Aldo Raines (Brad Pitt) and the Basterds are having an “Apache resistance” — [the] black troops go on an Apache warpath and kill a bunch of white soldiers and white officers on a military base and are just making a warpath to Switzerland.
So that was always going to be part of it. And I was going to do it as a miniseries, and that was going to be one of the big storylines. When I decided to try to turn it into a movie, that was a section I had to take out to help tame my material. I have most of that written. It’s ready to go; I just have to write the second half of it.
THE ROOT: That might very well be the third of the trilogy.
Tarantino: That would be the third of the trilogy. It would be [connected to] Inglourious Basterds, too, because Inglourious Basterds are in it, but it is about the soldiers. It would be called Killer Crow or something like that.
THE ROOT: When would it be set?
Tarantino: In ’44. It would be after Normandy.
